Glitch Text Generator

Turn normal text into glitchy, corrupted "zalgo" text dripping with combining marks. Use the intensity slider to go from a subtle creepy wobble to fully cursed chaos, then hit re-roll for a fresh distortion and copy the result into Discord, Instagram, Twitter/X, or your next horror-themed post. Every character is standard Unicode, so it pastes anywhere that accepts text.

Tip: also known as zalgo or cursed text. Some apps limit how many combining marks they render, so very high intensity may look tamer once pasted.

How the Glitch Text Generator works

Three simple steps. No signup. No installation.

1

Type your text

Enter the word or phrase you want to corrupt in the input box.

2

Set the intensity

Drag the slider for more or fewer combining marks above, through, and below each letter.

3

Re-roll & copy

Hit re-roll for a new random glitch, then copy and paste it anywhere.

The Unicode behind zalgo and cursed text

Glitch or "zalgo" text relies on a quiet feature of Unicode: combining characters. A combining mark (code points roughly U+0300 to U+036F) has no width of its own — it attaches to the character before it. Normally that is how languages stack accents, like the marks in "café" or Vietnamese tone marks. Zalgo abuses the mechanism by attaching many marks to a single base letter: combiners that render above the glyph, ones that render through the middle, and ones that render below. Pile on enough and the text appears to melt, drip, and overflow its line — the signature corrupted look named after an internet horror meme. Because the result is built entirely from valid Unicode, it copies and pastes like any other text and needs no special font. There are practical limits, though. To protect performance and prevent abuse, many platforms normalize text or cap the number of combining marks they will render per base character, so an extreme glitch can look milder once pasted into Discord, iMessage, or a browser. Usernames are the strictest surface and often reject heavy combiners outright. This generator gives you an intensity slider so you can dial the chaos to match where it is going — a faint, unsettling shimmer for a caption, or a fully cursed wall for a horror post — plus a re-roll button that randomizes which marks land where, so no two generations look exactly alike. It is a fun, harmless typographic effect; just keep it out of anything that needs to stay cleanly readable or accessible.
