Why AP Psychology has one of the highest 5 rates

AP Psychology is the second most popular AP exam after AP Language, with over 350,000 test-takers annually. It has one of the highest 5-rates of any major AP exam (22–24%) because it does not require the mathematical fluency needed for AP Sciences or the writing speed of AP English. However, FRQ performance separates average students from high scorers: the concept application question demands precise use of psychological terminology. The most tested topics are Units 7–8 (Motivation, Emotion, Clinical Psychology). Psychologists like Freud, Pavlov, Skinner, Bandura, and Kohlberg appear frequently on MCQs.
